Smart Move
On 25th June Bus Hub attended ‘Smart Transport for Sustainable Tourism’, a one-day conference at Central House, UCL exploring how technology and innovation can aid the experience of visitors to a city or region. Discussion focused on the provision of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) as a way of moving people onto public transport and exploring new modes to get around. The aim in this use case is to give visitors confidence to get around their destination with confidence, making as little impact as possible on the environment as possible. Integrating a range of modes including bus, rail, airport transfer, taxi and hire bike and offering them through a single platform presents a number of technical and commercial challenges but it was interesting to consider how Bus Hub’s current suite of innovative and user-friendly products might fit into this new landscape. I wonder if a visitor to Venice can book a gondola online?
